Some Fun and Adorable Weather Art

We've been having so much fun learning about weather the last month.  Since Open House is also coming up, I wanted to create meaningful activities that were also easy on the eyes if you know what I mean.

I'm not a huge fun of primary colors so I chose turquoise paper.  Just get the large paper and cut it in half, horizontally.  Have students fold the paper in half, and then in half again.  Open up the paper and they'll have four squares.  One for each season!  I did this in a small group but have done it in as a whole class in the past.  I've got a squirelly bunch so a small group was easier for me this year.  All you need is the paint shown and Q-tips.  Have kiddos dip their Q-tip in the brown paint and create one trunk in each box.

Fall

Use fall colors for the leaves and falling leaves on the ground

We used white for snow

Spring

The leaves are turning green again and the flowers are blooming!

Summer

The trees are full!

You can have students label each season or write about each season and glue on the back.  Since we are using these for Open House, I printed out the names of each season on Avery labels and stuck them on.

We just completed another cute activity that I created for my kiddos to learn more about clouds.

My little ones loved the extra "puff" we put in the clouds to make it 3-D.  Next year, I'll have them make the yarn much shorter.  I had them cut the string depending on the location of the cloud.  Since stratus clouds are low, that cloud sits lowest on the mobile.

We had fun and I'm so proud of my students' knowledge and creativity.  Now bring on Open House!
