Go Noodle Blitz: Did you know that you can use Go Noodle for Transitions {giveaway}

If you've followed me for some time, you know I'm one of the biggest Go Noodle fans!  It's one of the educational companies that I truly believe in and stand behind.  I get anxious just thinking about what would happen if Go Noodle suddenly went away.  I've blogged about why everyone needs to create an account, how you can use Brain Break tickets as an incentive and let students cash it in to choose a brain break, and how to do a guided, directed drawing of Rad Chad that's a freebie over on the Go Noodle blog.

Today, I want to talk to you about using Go Noodle during transitions.  This is the perfect answer for those of you who don't think you have time in your schedule to add Go Noodle.  We do Go Noodle at least three times a day and I use it when we transition to Phonics, Math, and cleaning up.

I love using it during transitions because it trains the kiddos without have to use your voice.  After all, you know they tune us out after some time.  Plus, it gives me a chance to pass out any papers or prep. anything in those 3-4 minutes.  And they love it because it's so dang fun!
Did you know that you can find videos by categories?
  • In the morning, students come in and do their journal writing, we look at our schedule and say the pledge.  I've got them trained to know that when Go Noodle comes in, it's time to calm down and get focused.  I love choosing a calming brain break like "Flow" to start the morning. As soon as it's over, they know that they need to come to the carpet with their whiteboards to begin our phonics lesson.  No words from me are needed!
  • After lunch, the kiddos are all wound up from running around.  I need to change tone of our environment so we do another calming brain break to help change the energy of our class.  Like in the morning, this lets me get any math papers out or put up any anchor charts for the day.  As soon as it's over, they know it's time to get serious for math and they walk back to their desks and take out their Interactive Math Notebooks.
  • At the end of the day, we're all a bit tired and need a little pick-me-up.  This is when I choose a more upbeat brain break like "Pop-se-Ko" or anything from Koo-Koo Kangaroo.  If you have a favorite, you can easily find it by going to the "Channels" page and looking there.
