Back to School Must Haves: Part 1 {Classroom Friendly Supplies Pencil Sharpener}

It's crazy that summer is close to an end.  I love teaching, don't get me wrong, but I wasn't giddy and excited school shopping at all of my favorite stores last week.  But everyone else seems so dang excited, is something wrong with me?  It wasn't until I got home and had a package waiting for me.  I perked up!
The prettiest pencil sharpener awaited me when I got home.  It's from Classroom Friendly Supplies and I had to have it to see what all of THE best teacher bloggers were talking about!  I kept hearing how it was the best pencil sharpener and so dang easy to use.  I had to know what all the hype was about!!!
I fell in love instantly.  It's not hype people, this pencil sharpener is truly amazing. Here's why!!!
Did I already mention that I love, love, love my color choices? They also come in other colors.  Head to the website to check them out!
  • It's so easy to use.  Just insert the pencil, pull out the prongs, and use one hand to sharpen.  How amazing will this be for my little guys who may break {but hopefully not} their arms and can only use one hand!
  • I have always been an electric pencil sharpener girl.  I don't have time to stand in line in the office to sharpen pencils.  So each year, I splurge on one I can keep in my class.  Splurge no more, this baby can stay in my class and my littles can do it on their own.  That means one less thing on my to do list!
  • It sharpens perfectly…EVERY SINGLE TIME!  It even sharpens those cute decorative pencils that we love to use as rewards.  My electric pencil sharpener can't quite sharpen those and if it does, they break almost immediately.

I'm going to turn this area into a writing station and will leave the pencil sharpener with all of the writing utensils.  Students will have the responsibility of sharpening their own pencil from now on!

 I can't stand using pencils because they are never sharp enough and when they're dull, it's like nails on a chalkboard for me.  Not anymore!
 If this kiddos is in my class again, he'll be sure to want to take home our pencils that have been sharpened with Classroom Friendly Supplies!

How does pencil sharpening work in your classroom?  Do you let the students sharpen pencils?  Is it a distraction?

  1. I am the only one to touch the sharpener! We have a broken and sharpened bin that they drop their pencils into and exchange from. If it is a special pencil to them, I tell them to sharpen it with their own sharpener!!

  2. Hi Kristen,
    It was a pleasure meeting you yesterday. John and I were pretty shy walking into this get-together not knowing anyone but your warm personality was so welcoming and soon we were feeling like we had met some new friends! Now, to your new pencil sharpener.... oh my gosh, I have never found anything remotely as cute as this one... purple is my favorite color, but hot pink is my second favorite so I'm hopping onto the website to take a look. I have one electric pencil sharpener that only I use also, and the kids use lead pencils or sharper their own (I'm a sixth grade teacher) but I feel badly not having something for them to use... I've gone through so many electric pencil sharpeners that I finally had to make the new one "only for the teacher"... but have felt very guilty about that... so .... this may be my solution! Take care and can't wait to hang out again at the next gathering. Take care, Carol http://theteacherteam.com/
