I've always been a bit of a nerd and have posted the State Standards or Benchmarks around my room. I'll display it next to our "Writing Wall" to demonstrate narrative or expository writing, above charts and Thinking maps to show our learning, next to our calendar, pretty much anywhere!
Not only does it allow students to see what we are learning, it lets visitors such as parents, other teachers, and administrators to observe the learning take place in our class.
I've tried several different versions of displaying the Standards. I've downloaded Standards posters and displayed those, but found that it was a bit of a hassle to search through the posters for the exact poster I needed. So...I decided to make it simple and easy! I've found it's best to print out a generic version on card stock, laminate it, and use an overhead (do we still use these???) or dry erase marker. When I'm ready to take down the poster, I just erase and start again. Easy Peasy, right?!?!
